Ranking The Mario And Luigi Games From Worst To Best
The Mario and Luigi games stared the two brothers as they went on fun journeys together. It was a popular series ever since the first game, 2003’s superstar saga, and today I’ll be ranking them from worst to best. (Note: I will not be including any remakes)
#5 Mario and Luigi paper jam
Metacritic: 76
Personal score: 6/10
2016’s2016’s Mario and Luigi paper jam wasn’t a bad game but just disappointing for me. When I initially saw the game, I was excited due to the fantastic idea of combining regular Mario and Luigi with the Paper Mario universe. The game had some fun parts combat-wise, good music, and some funny writing. The game’s problems can come with its boring boss fights, but it can feel boring all around, and the story falls flat throughout the game, which quickly makes this the worst Mario and Luigi game.
#4 Mario and Luigi dream team
Metacritic: 81%
Personal score: 8/10
2013’s2013’s dream team is a better Mario and Luigi game. The game has fun combat, a good story, good characters, some good villains, and good fun writing. Sadly, where the game fails is at its villain Antasma, who falls short and can be very annoying with the tutorial that lasts hours to get through.
#3 Mario and Luigi Partners in time
Metacritic: 86%
Personal score: 9/10
2005’s2005’s Mario and Luigi partners in time stars the two brothers with their baby counterparts as they set out on a journey to save princess peach from the evil princess shroob. Other baby characters also show up to such as baby peach and baby bowser. The game has a good story, villain, unique interactions between Mario and Luigi with the baby counterparts, and funny writing. The game fails again with the long tutorial that again feels frustrating in the game.
#2 Mario and Luigi superstar saga
Metacritic: 90%
Personal score: 9/10
2003’s2003’s superstar saga was the first Mario and Luigi game and is again one of the best in the franchise. The game offers a good story, good villains, Fawful and Cackletta, good characters with funny writing, fun combat, and unique interactions and mechanics between Mario and Luigi. The game fails again in the long tutorial that all the Mario and Luigi games have a hard time.
#1 Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside story
Metacritic: 90
Personal score: 10/10
2009’s2009’s inside story was an incredible game for the Mario and Luigi series and easily known as the best in the series for many reasons. The game had a good story, a fantastic concept that allowed you to switch from Mario and Luigi to play as Bowser and vice versa, hilarious writing, great characters, a great villain Fawful, and great boss fights. The only problem I had again was the tutorial, but everything else thankfully overshadows the problem.
